Do non-socialnetworking types Twitter???

I've often wondered... do non-socialmedia types Twitter?

If you have an example of a non-social media Web 2.0 advocate using twitter please post a comment to this blog.

Your feedback is critical if we are to discover if others are among us. Or are we simply a bunch of techno freaks playing with gadgets we dream up in our sleep?

Just wondering out loud.

Yes... tons of programmer tech types are using Twitter, Pownce, FriendFeed and all the social stuff.

This just might just be indicative of the alpha-geek crowd though.

Craig,

Thanks for your comment.

I truly wonder if technogeeks and socialfiends like us live on an island or will the masses someday learn to adapt and enjoy this new platform for social behavior and interactivity?

Before Twitter I use to call or email friends, perhaps hit their MySpace or Facebook FunWall but today I have many friends I love to hear from Tweet all day long. The sense of connection and shared learning is SOOOOO HUGE!!!!

It's mind blowing to watch the cnages in behavior, sending Twitter posts form gatherings, social events, at the store. I'm interacting with my followers as much as my family at times.

I love this stuff but how do we share this to increase adoption rates with non techno geeks and the like?

Do we all need to vote up a Threadless design to share our joint love of Twitter?

Well I think two things have to happen:

1) They have to "get it"... and most non-geeks and non-socialfiends don't. Show this video to anyone who doesn't:

Twitter in Plain English

2) They have to use it. Many people don't want to be tied down (or so they will see it) to a device to communicate.

Just as the old people used to complain about not wanting to talk to a machine when answering machines were first introduced - so do we find ourselves in the midst of a change that will probably require a generation to grow up with the technology before it truly becomes mainstream.

Craig,

Thanks for the video share. It was so good I had to blog it. Lee is a great producer. I hope others find this video helpful.
